Sure, there was plenty of anarchy and pending drama, but it was lacking the passion that fans are used to seeing associated with Jax and the other main characters. I found myself astounded (and more importantly, disappointed) to how little things had changed in the aftermath of the show's biggest moment, and how little "The Black Widower" was able to make any of that interesting, or meaningful. The Sons are back, and badder than ever! Okay, while that statement may be technically true, it's probably not the best way to set the tone for what is, all things considered, a pretty damn dour one hour and fifteen minutes of television. Instead, I'm left with a bitter echo of Cassavetes: I love this show. Mostly, I wanted something deeper, more resonant from SOA: Maybe a meditation on the horror of gun violence. With relish, the show seems set to rip the teeth out of anyone necessary. Sons of Anarchy has always been a show that borders on torture porn, and "Black Widower" was no exception to that sadistic streak.
